FORT WORTH, Texas – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District officials announce today an increase of power generation for critical infrastructure needs and to stabilize the power grid of Southeast Texas.
Power generation began yesterday which allows local hospitals, emergency operations centers and evacuation centers to regain power and reduce reliance on portable generators. Increase in generation output will allow for additional stabilization of the power grid.
Increase in power generation will result in an output of 50 megawatts which is a release of approximately 9,000 cubic feet per second. This flow rate will have a negligible effect on downstream conditions below B.A. Steinhagen/Town Bluff and will continue to increase stability to the power grid.
