The Memphis District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently awarded Task Orders to construct two seepage remediation projects in Arkansas and in Missouri.

The Big Island, Arkansas seepage remediation project is in Greene County, Arkansas along a portion of the System 10 levee. The levee provides protection to the area of Arkansas between the St. Francis River and Crowley’s Ridge including Lake City, Trumann, and portions of Jonesboro.

“The project consists of approximately two miles of seepage berms along the levee and associated ditches,” Project Manager Mark Mazzone explained.

The Project Development Team (PDT) included Civil Engineer and Technical Lead John Hudson, Civil Engineer Jeff Glass, Civil Engineer Ashley Evans, Civil Engineer Technician Gerrit Myers, Biologist Kevin Pigott, Realty Specialist Josh Neisen, Senior Cost Manager and Memphis District Value Officer Neal Newman, Contract Specialist Sequoria Wilson, and Program Analyst Ken Beech.

The Below Senath, Missouri seepage remediation project is in Dunklin County, Missouri along a portion of the System 11 levee.

“The levee provides protection to the area of Missouri and Arkansas including the communities of Cardwell, Arbyrd, Missouri, and Leachville, Monette, and Black Oak, Arkansas,” Mazzone said. “This project fills in a deep ditch that represents a significant seepage threat.”

The PDT included Civil Engineer and Technical Lead Jonathan Fili, Civil Engineer Grayson Holt (Civil), Civil Engineer Dr. Holly Enlow, Civil Engineer Technician Gerrit Myers, Civil Engineer Conrad Stacks, Realty Specialist Miles Pillars, Contract Specialist Latashia Muse, and Program Analyst Ken Beech.

Big Island was awarded to Syte Corporation on March 30, 2020 and Below Senath was awarded to C&M Contractors on March 31. The projects were identified during the winter flood of 2015 and 2016 and funded by the 2017 short-term supplemental appropriation.
