USACE commanding general visits Louisiana
LOUISIANA — Lt. Gen. Thomas Bostick, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, signed the "Louisiana Coastal Area Barataria Basin Barrier Shoreline Restoration" report June 22, 2012 on top of the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal Surge Barrier. Col. Edward Fleming, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New Orleans District commander, highlighted the united front federal, state and local agencies are taking in support of the Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System building built here. The HSDRRS system is referred to as the best the area has ever had regarding storm risk reduction. On hand for the ceremony was U.S. Sen. David Vitter.
