USACE Park Ranger talks to students
CALIFORNIA — Park ranger Kevin Stewart (left), with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, assists Kari Burr (center), a fishery biologist with the Fishery Foundation, with a video monitor displaying underwater fish habitats to students along the Calaveras River below New Hogan Dam, Valley Springs, Calif., Oct. 22. The students, from Stagg and Bear Creek high schools of Stockton, Calif., experienced real life learning through activities including water sampling, aquatic life samples, an underwater video camera and fish habitats as part of the Calaveras River Education and Appreciation Day. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District helped host the event, in partnership with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s “Connecting People with Nature” program.
