USACE leadership visits Joplin, Mo.
JOPLIN, Mo. -- Joined by Traci Davis, quality assurance supervisor, and Jon Gornick, mission manager for debris removal, Maj. Gen. Merdith W. B. "Bo" Temple, acting chief of engineers and acting commanding general of USACE, surveys the expedited debris removal area here July 19. It’s estimated that more than 6,900 homes were destroyed and an additional 875 damaged when an EF-5 tornado struck here May 22. Gornick is deployed here from the Corps' Portland District in Oregon and Davis is deployed from the Kansas City District. To date, more than 300 Corps employees have volunteered to help with federal tornado recover efforts here. (U.S. Army photo/Mark Haviland)
