• Water releases from Fort Randall and Gavins Point Dams

    Water releases from Fort Randall Dam at Pickstown, South Dakota and Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, South Dakota are being increased this week in support of the 2017 navigation season downstream. At Gavins Point, releases will be increased 3,000 cfs per day until they reach navigation support levels, which are estimated at 25,000 to 28,000 cfs this spring. Fort Randall’s releases will be used to back up the Gavins Point releases and are typically 2,000 to 3,000 cfs lower than Gavins Point.
  • Road closure at Conchas Lake due to construction

    The Lodge Road at Conchas Lake, N.M., will be closed for road construction March 27 – May 19, 2017. During this time, there will be no access to the south recreation boat ramp.
  • Corps awards Oceanside dredging contract, Division Commander visits

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District awarded a $10.77 million contract to Manson Construction Company from Seattle, Washington, on March 13 to conduct maintenance dredging at Oceanside Harbor.
  • Work to remove Green River Dam #6 to begin March 28

    Green River Dam No. 6, near Brownsville, Kentucky will be removed the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced. Removal will begin on March 28.
  • USACE Program Manager Receives Partnership Award

    On Feb. 21, 2017, Heather Burke, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) National Partnership Program Manager, received the Public Lands Alliance (PLA) Agency Leadership Award at PLA's annual conference in Arlington, Va. This award recognizes a federal or state public land management agency employee for outstanding accomplishments in championing, cultivating and leading a partnership.
  • 17-033 Dworshak Dam discharge flows to increase today

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – As planned late last week, Dworshak Dam discharge flows will begin increasing 2,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) per hour at noon today until flows reach 25,000 cfs at about 10 p.m. tonight, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials. The flow increases on Monday afternoon and evening will increase the river surface elevation about one foot. The increase will result in high water levels and very high velocities in the North Fork Clearwater River.
  • Army Corps of Engineers flood teams stabilizing levees in northern Idaho

    Army Corps flood teams are deployed to the St. Joe River, Coeur d' Alene River and Kootenai River basins today. A flood team is stabilizing the federal levee and the Shepherd Road levee in the City of St. Maries, Idaho, and awarded contracts for staging material at the Callahan Creek levee in Troy, Montana.

    The navigation lock at John Day Dam, near Rufus, Oregon, reopened to river traffic late Saturday night, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials in the Portland District announced.
  • 17-032 Ice Harbor Dam’s navigation lock return-to-service date delayed; other locks remain on schedule to reopen as previously announced

    BURBANK, Wash. – The navigation lock at Ice Harbor Dam, located at lower Snake River mile 9.7 near Burbank, Washington, requires additional work to address an unexpected mechanical issue that recently developed during the downstream lock gate’s commissioning process, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials in the Walla Walla District announced, today. The lock is now tentatively scheduled to reopen at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 23. Other locks in the system remain on schedule to reopen as previously announced.
