  • Army Corps of Engineers supports temporarily expanding Every Kid Outdoors recreation pass to include 5th grade students

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today it will temporarily expand the Every Kid Outdoors recreation pass to include 5th grade students for the 2020-2021 academic year. This change will ensure that 5th grade students who may not have been able to make full use of the Every Kid Outdoors Annual 4th Grade Pass during the 2019-2020 academic year due to the COVID-19 pandemic will have a chance to do so during the current academic year through Aug. 31, 2021.
  • USACE Vicksburg District to use new payment system for fee collection at Lake Ouachita campground

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District will use a new electronic payment system for fee collection at Twin Creek Campground beginning Dec. 1.
  • Gavins Point Dam releases to be reduced to winter release rate in late November

    In two virtual public meetings held Nov. 2, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Missouri River Water Management Division presented current hydrologic conditions and planned operation of the Missouri River mainstem reservoir system for the remainder of 2020. Public meetings are held each fall and spring to update the region on current conditions and planned operations. The Nov. 2 meetings included draft plans for operating the system during 2021.
  • Army Corps announces prescribed burns planned for Raystown Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, and Pennsylvania Game Commission plan to implement prescribed fire management at Raystown Lake from Nov. 4 to Dec. 18, depending upon small windows of appropriate weather to ensure they are safe and effective.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that it will waive day use fees at its more than 2,850 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in observance of Veterans Day, November 11.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District announced that an online, interactive map of Bayou Bodcau will launch today, Oct. 26.
  • Corps updates stakeholders on Missouri River Mainstem System operations

    The US Army Corps of Engineers Missouri River Water Management Division hosted an update call on Thursday, Oct. 22, for Congressional representatives, Tribal, and state and local government officials, to include emergency managers, local levee sponsors and the media to discuss current conditions, and the projected operation of the mainstem reservoir system as part of the Draft Annual Operating Plan which was released in mid-September for public comment.
  • Winter changes to Lower Columbia River recreational lock schedule

    Recreational boaters who need to move through the three lower Columbia River dams’ locks must do so during daylight hours, on request. This change began September 30 and will continue until May 15, 2021 at Bonneville, The Dalles and John Day. This is an annual and a regularly scheduled part of operations during the winter season.
  • Corps to close Big Dam Bridge for inspection

    The Big Dam Bridge, across Murray Lock and Dam will be closed to all traffic from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Oct. 19 - 23 for a routine bridge inspection. Officials at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regret any inconvenience this may cause and ask for the public’s cooperation until the work is complete.
