  • Vicksburg District announces fall, winter recreation schedules for Arkansas lakes

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has announced fall and winter schedules for campgrounds and recreation areas across its Arkansas lakes, Lake Ouachita, DeGray Lake and Lake Greeson.
  • Potential Blue-Green Algae detected at Abiquiu Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District, has detected signs of a potentially toxic Blue-Green Algae bloom at the lake. Warning signs are posted at the lake’s public access points.
  • Corps releases Upper Mississippi River draft master plan

    ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, released its draft Upper Mississippi River master plan and environmental assessment today, Aug. 14, and is seeking public comments.
  • Smith’s Island Recreation Area Closed Until Further Notice

    Due to safety concerns related to storm damage, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has closed the Smith’s Island Recreation Area until further notice.
  • Volksweg Trail Extension Now Open to Cordova Park

    The newest section of the Volksweg Trail at Lake Red Rock is now complete and open to the public.  This extension adds an additional 2.5 miles of trail from the Roberts Creek trailhead west to Cordova County Park.  The full length of the Volksweg is now over 17 miles.   
  • Swimming Not Recommended at Lake Red Rock Beaches

    Due to elevated bacteria levels, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District does not recommend swimming at the North Overlook and Whitebreast beaches at Lake Red Rock.
  • Vicksburg District's DeGray Lake to host youth deer hunt with COVID-19 safety measures

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District’s DeGray Lake will host its fourth annual youth deer hunt Oct. 3 and 4, and COVID-19 precautions will be in place. The registration deadline is Sept. 5, and hunters must email Kolin Cogburn at kolin.p.cogburn@usace.army.mil for an application. For more information, contact Cogburn at 870-246-5501, extension 64015. To be eligible for participation, hunters must be between the ages of six and 15 and accompanied by an assistant at least 21 years of age. Youth hunters may harvest a maximum of one buck and two does during the hunt.
  • Tule River Spillway construction set to begin Aug. 2

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District will begin construction operations to realign Avenue 146 and widen the existing Tule River Spillway at Success Lake in Porterville, California, starting August 2.
