  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Facility Closures at Wappapello Lake Continue

    Efforts to ensure the safety of our visitors and staff members continue as Corps of Engineers staff at Wappapello Lake plan for the reopening of Corps recreation areas as soon as practical, given the situation with the COVID-19 virus.  With this said, state and federal guidelines are being used to make decisions on facility operations. It is important to note changes in these guidelines are quickly evolving and we are developing plans to reopen facilities that can change with short notice.  The Corps will do everything possible to announce those decisions via Facebook and through our local media partners.
  • Corps of Engineers Extends Facility Closures at Wappapello Lake

    Wappapello Lake – In an effort to ensure the safety of our visitors and staff members, the Wappapello Lake Project Office and Visitor Center, all U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps of Engineers) campgrounds, fish cleaning stations, swim beaches, and playgrounds at Wappapello Lake will remain closed until further notice.
  • General De Gaulle Dr. westbound to close periodically between Behrman Pl. and MacArthur Blvd.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District will temporarily close the left lane of General De Gaulle Drive westbound to traffic between Behrman Place and MacArthur Boulevard for work related to the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control project. Starting Wednesday, April 1, 2020, the left lane will be closed periodically between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. when the work site is receiving construction equipment.
  • 20-017 Walla Walla District continues to fulfill mission in the midst of closures and limited staffing

    Walla Walla WA. - In accordance with President Trump’s Emergency Declaration on COVID Response, Water Control of Dams, and Power Generation, issued on March 13, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District has reduced staffing levels and closed many of its recreational areas.
  • Road across Gavins Point Dam temporarily closing March 31

    Crest Road crossing Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, South Dakota, will close for an extended period to allow contractors to re-seal the monolith (expansion) joints in the powerhouse. The road will close at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, and will be closed for approximately four weeks.
  • NR 20-006: Dale Hollow Dam Road closing for repairs to Walker Ridge Road

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 26, 2018) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Dale Hollow Dam Road at the dam in Celina, Tenn., is closing today through April 9, 2020, to repair Walker Ridge Road. The road is in need of stabilization due to a roadside slide related to excessive spring rains and soaked terrain.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District has closed all visitor centers, beaches and project offices to the public to protect against the further spread of COVID-19.
  • Army Corps to close recreation sites across Pennsylvania, southern New York, Maryland, West Virginia in response to COVID-19

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, has closed or delayed the opening of Corps-owned and managed recreation sites effective immediately and lasting indefinitely due to the concern for public health and safety of its employees and the visiting public during the COVID-19 pandemic. The closures pertain to visitor centers, beaches, special events, volunteer activities, public meetings, interpretive programs and other public gatherings.

    Clarkston, Wash. – The Lower Granite Natural Resource Management (NRM) staff will be restricting access to their office in Clarkston in response to the COVID-19 situation.
  • 20-013 Corps closing all Walla Walla District Visitor Centers

    Walla Walla, Wash. –At this time, the Corps of Engineers will close all Visitor Centers in the Walla Walla District.
