  • 20-034 Lower Granite Dam closes public crossing due to public health concerns

    Clarkston, Wash. – Officials at Lower Granite Lock and Dam are closing dam crossings to the public for two weeks, starting today, due to COVID-19 health concerns. Dam officials will provide an update status on crossings in about 14 days.
  • 20-032 Vandalism found at Granite Point, Corps considering its options

    PULLMAN, Wash. – The Natural Resource Management (NRM) Staff at Lower Granite Lock and Dam discovered vandalism at Granite Point on June 20.
  • Scheduled maintenance underway at McAlpine Locks and Dam

    Due to scheduled maintenance and repairs, the north (1,200 ft.) chamber at McAlpine Locks and Dam on the Ohio River in Louisville, Ky., will be closed from June 15 through November 13, 2020 for miter gate replacement. During this time all traffic will be passed through the south (1,200 ft.) chamber. Starting around June 20, dredging operations of the lower approach will also be conducted. This will include a total river closure during nighttime hours of 6 p.m. to 6 a.m from July 3 through July 7.

    Walla Walla, WA. -- The Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District has announced that Illia Dunes will remain closed until further notice.
  • NR 20-015: Old Hickory Lake closing Cedar Creek Boat Ramp

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 20, 2020) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Old Hickory Lake is implementing a temporary closure of the boat ramp at Cedar Creek Recreation Area in Mt. Juliet beginning Thursday, May 21, 2020. This closure was not initially planned as part of the Nashville District's COVID-19 response; however, unauthorized public access to currently closed facilities adjacent to this ramp has become a concern. All other Corps managed boat ramps will remain open.
  • Crest Road across Gavins Point spillway closed Tuesday May 19

    The spillway and intake deck on the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, South Dakota will be closed from 1-3 p.m., Tuesday, May 19. This will prohibit through traffic on the road that crosses Gavins Point Dam, also known as the Crest Road.
  • NR 20-014: Lake Cumberland’s Lakeview Boat Ramp closed to stage debris

    SOMERSET, Ky. (May 15, 2020) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces the temporary closure of the Lakeview Boat Ramp until further notice. The boat ramp area is being used for the Corps of Engineers debris collection program for staging and processing large wood collected from Lake Cumberland and its shoreline.
  • Corps of Engineers announce phased reopening of campgrounds

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District is planning a phased reopening of campsites and recreation areas closed due to COVID-19, to begin immediately. The decision to reopen each recreation area is based largely on the safety of the staff and visitors. Each lake is going through a conditions-based assessment to verify all staff can return to work safely and will have the proper personal protection equipment available. In addition, they are confirming the availability of contractors and staff who help operate and maintain the recreation areas and implementing operational changes to address COVID-19 concerns in campgrounds.
  • 20-022 Lower Granite to begin Summer Crossing Hours in June

    Clarkston, Wash. –Lower Granite Lock and Dam will be starting their summer hours for public dam crossing the weekend of June 5-7.
  • NR 20-009: Fishing Creek Recreation Area closing for roadway repair

    SOMERSET, Ky. (April 28, 2020) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Fishing Creek Recreation Area at Lake Cumberland is closing May 1 due to roadway repairs. Officials estimate the area will reopen May 20. During this time the boat ramp, day-use area, and campground will be unavailable.
