    Toxicology Lab conducts unique oyster study

    NORFOLK, Va.-- With a heavy-duty pump steadily providing the heartbeat for a recent research operation, the Engineer Research and Development Center's Toxicology Laboratory cradled 75 electronically-wired oysters in a first-of-its-kind experiment, testing the effects of various sediment levels supporting the Corps’ Norfolk District dredging operations.

    DUCK, N.C.--The Engineer Research and Development Center's Field Research Facility in Duck, N.C., recently hosted Resolute Marine Energy for a full-scale test and evaluation of their surge wave energy converter (WEC). Resolute Marine Energy is a Boston, Mass.-based company developing technologies that produce clean energy from ocean waves.

  • Army Corps of Engineers, other federal agencies release Asian carp environmental DNA study findings

    CHICAGO -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Geological Survey, released an interim report for the Asian Carp Environmental DNA Calibration Study, today, which is a three-year study funded through the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, as scoped by the Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee Asian Carp Control Strategy Framework.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, recently completed the first ice measurements of the year on Lake Pepin, near Red Wing, Minn. The measurements help the navigation industry determine when it might be possible to get tows upstream to St. Paul, Minn.
