(July 6, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District recently resumed offering public tours of the Cheatham Dam Power Plant and more tours are scheduled July 21, Aug. 18 and Sep. 8, 2012 with tours beginning at noon, 1 and 2 p.m. Public access to these Corps facilities was restricted after September 11, 2001.

(July 6, 2012)—The first Lake Barkley Open House and public tours of the Barkley Power Plant and Lock in nearly 11 years were held June 23, and more tours are scheduled July 21, Aug. 18 and Sep. 15, 2012 with tours beginning at 9 and 11 a.m., and 2 p.m. Public access to these U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facilities had been restricted after September 11, 2001.

    LANCASTER, Tenn. (June 28, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is offering the public free guided tours of the Center Hill Power Plant. These are the first tours of the power plant since the Corps restricted visitation after Sept. 11, 2001.

(June 23, 2012)—The first Lake Barkley Resource Management Office Open House and public tours of the Barkley Power Plant and Navigation Lock in nearly 11 years were held today to better inform the public about the benefits these facilities provide to the nation. Public access to these U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District areas had been restricted since the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

  • 12-020: Closure of Cordell Hull Dam Right Bank Tailwater Recreation Area begins July 9

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 22, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces today that the area below Cordell Hull Dam known as the Right Bank Tailwater Recreation Area is closing July 9 for 150 days during construction work to stabilize the bluff below the dam. The closure area starts at the Turkey Creek Nature Trail parking lot near the Resource Manager’s Office.
  • NR 12-019: State highway over Center Hill Dam restricted to one lane starting July 9

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 22, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces today Highway 96/141 over Center Hill Dam is being restricted to one lane starting July 9, 2012. The restriction is necessary to enlarge work space on the dam to support the next construction phase of the Center Hill Dam Foundation Remediation Project, installation of the foundation barrier wall. During the two-year duration of the lane restriction, an automated traffic control system will safely manage vehicles across the dam. The maximum wait time is five minutes.
