USACE mission in West Africa aimed at supporting Ebola containment
WIESBADEN, Germany – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has joined the fight against Ebola in West Africa. The main body of Europe District’s Forward Engineer Support Team-Advanced departed Oct. 21 for Monrovia, Liberia, to take part in Operation United Assistance, an Africa Command mission to provide logistics, training and engineering support to U.S. Agency for International Development-led efforts at containing the virus outbreak in the region. District officials said the deployment could last up to six months.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Releases Robust Climate Change Adaptation, Strategic Sustainability Plans
In response to Executive Orders 13514 and 13653, the United States Army Corps of Engineers today released its Climate Change Adaptation Plan and annual Strategic Sustainability Plan. "The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been factoring climate change and its impacts in to all its missions and operations for decades. The Corps of Engineers is working with the Obama Administration to identify and address the existing and future risks and vulnerabilities of climate change and ensure that communities and ecosystems are protected and flourish." said Jo-Ellen Darcy, Assistant Secretary of the Army (Civil Works) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Senior Sustainability Officer.

Army Corps of Engineers waives day use fees at recreation areas on Veterans Day
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that it will waive day use fees for veterans, active and reserve component service members, and their families at the more than 2,200 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide on Veterans Day, November 11.

Developing an Army Energy Information Management plan from the ground up
Huntsville Center is leading an effort to develop the Army’s energy information management standards and an Armywide implementation plan that identifies the optimal strategy to integrate, monitor and manage all the energy production and consumption activities on an installation.

The Jan. 7 Los Angeles County wildfires debris removal operation was one of our largest, most challenging missions. More than 1,400 USACE personnel deployed from across the nation and from our district to support debris removal operations. /6

But we did not do this alone. The success of this important mission was the result of strong partnerships with FEMA, Cal OES, LA County, local governments and impacted communities. /5

To date, USACE has removed more than 2.6 million tons of debris — the equivalent of more than 218,000 truckloads. /4

We are proud of our efforts, alongside our partners, to rapidly come to the aid of our fellow citizens in their time of need. In just six months, more than 9,500 properties were cleared — making this the fastest, large-scale wildfire debris removal in USACE history. /3

After the devastating Los Angeles wildfires in January 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was laser-focused on removing immediate hazards to public health and safety, and supporting economic recovery by removing structural ash, debris and foundations. /2

Major flooding threatens Mississippi River Valley, Army Corps flood fighters fully engaged
VICKSBURG, Miss., December 29, 2015 – The Mississippi Valley Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, fully activated its flood fighting emergency management operations for the Rock Island, St. Louis, Memphis, Vicksburg and New Orleans districts to manage rapidly rising water levels on the Mississippi River and several tributaries, with the highest Mississippi River levels since the Great Flood of 2011.

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that beginning Jan. 1, 2016, the recreation day use fees charged for boat launches and swimming beaches managed by USACE will change to a simpler fee structure. The fee for a USACE annual pass to these facilities will also change.
