    The Pittsburgh District is hosting a public tour of the East Branch Dam Safety Initiative to include the seepage cutoff wall construction site. The purpose is to provide the public an update on the construction progress and the opportunity to meet the project and lake staff and to see the integral features of work such as grouting, cutoff wall construction, and monitoring devices.

  • Harlan County Lake gains improved tainter gates for safety of dam

    REPUBLICAN CITY, Neb. – The Kansas City District and the Harlan County Lake team hosted a ribbon cutting event at the recently repaired Harlan County Dam May 11, 2018. The many changes needed to the tainter gates, sluicegates, and irrigation lines required a multi-disciplined project delivery team to focus on execution, quality, and schedule. This allowed for efficient accomplishment of the work on this complex dam project. The Harlan County Dam was the District’s top dam safety concern and received immediate and sustained attention to reduce the risk early and find the right repairs to greatly enhance the long-term safety of the dam.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Dam Safety team is conducting a geotechnical investigation at Cottage Grove Dam near Eugene, Ore., beginning Thursday, which includes drilling borings in the dam embankment.

  • Harlan County Lake hosts ribbon cutting for gate repair

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Media members and the public are invited to Harlan County Lake, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, part of the Kansas City District, which will host a ribbon cutting for the recently completed project to repair the mechanisms for multiple tainter gates which allow the Corps to release water from the lake. The event is Friday, May 11 at 11 a.m. at Harlan County Lake near Alma, Neb. Col. Doug Guttormsen, commander of the Kansas City District, and other dignitaries will speak at the event hosted at a location with a view of the dam – the North Outlet Park.

(April 23, 2018) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is hosting a public scoping meeting 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Buffalo Valley Community Center to present information to the public regarding a current Dam Safety Modification Study (DSMS) to further reduce risk at Center Hill Dam.

  • Corps awards $204 million contract to begin construction on Isabella Dam modifications

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $204 million contract on Sept. 18 to Flatiron/Dragados/Sukut Joint Venture of Benicia to construct modifications to the Isabella Lake Dam in Lake Isabella.

  • USACE employee receives 2017 Levee Safety Professional of the Year

    FORT WORTH, Texas – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District Levee Safety Program Manager Brian Brasher, was awarded the 2017 Levee Safety Professional of the Year, Aug. 15 in Fort Worth. The USACE Levee Safety Professional of the Year Award is given annually to one deemed to have had a significant impact on the USACE Levee Safety Program. Brasher is the second recipient of the award and had to compete with numerous USACE employees nationally for the honor.
