    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District will reopen Sheppard Island and Rising Star parks this week.

  • Arkansas channel cleanout project ‘Ready to Advertise’

    In support of the district's flood risk management mission, the Memphis District regularly plans and executes projects to maintain and repair channels and levees as needed. Most recently, a project called "The Locus Creek Channel Cleanout", recently reached a significant milestone known as "Ready to Advertise" (RTA). "Ready to Advertise" means the project package has been sent to the district contracting team for awarding this fiscal year. The work to be done is in the Craighead County, Arkansas area. According to PDT Project Manager Amber Jarnagin, Locust Creek has been experiencing debris blockages that aren't allowing proper channel drainage.

  • Memphis District assists Arkansas with St. Francis water trail dedication

    In partnership with the St. Francis Lake Association, the Arkansas Water Trails, and the City of Trumann, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) celebrated the dedication of the St. Francis Sunken Lands Water Trails on May 5, 2021.  Governor Asa Hutchinson offered some inspiring words about the value of outdoor recreation to the lives of Arkansans, saying, “The tourism industry is on the rise in Arkansas! The new St. Francis Sunken Lands Water Trails will be a major attraction in Poinsett county, bringing people in to take in this unique view of Arkansas’s natural history.”

  • One land of Highway 32 across Millwood Dam to temporarily close

    ASHDOWN, Ark. – One lane of the Highway 32 across Millwood Dam will be closed from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. on May 4 for a routine dam inspection.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District announces that beginning April 15, Cherokee Park near Morrilton, Arkansas will be available for reservations.

  • Rescue revetment task order awarded

    The Memphis District recently awarded a task order to restore existing revetment and repair over-steepened banks along the Mississippi River in Coahoma County, Mississippi, and Phillips County, Arkansas. A total of $1,344,000 was awarded on the current River Repairs IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity) Contract to Midwest Construction Company.

  • USACE Vicksburg District, Corps Foundation recognize Lake Ouachita volunteers for distinguished service

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The USACE Vicksburg District recently recognized Lake Ouachita volunteers Sidney and Grace Welch with the Volunteer Excellence Coin for their years of exemplary service at the lake’s Denby Point Recreation Area. Created in partnership with the Corps Foundation, the award recognizes volunteers’ extraordinary skills and contributions and encourages an attitude of stewardship and responsibility in caring for USACE lands, facilities, and resources.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations, Maj. Gen. William (Butch) Graham and the Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Assistant Secretary of Army (Civil Works), Vance Stewart, stopped in West Memphis, Arkansas, where they were briefed by our St. Francis Levee District of Arkansas Partner Rob Rash, Memphis District Project Manager Jason Dickard, and Geotechnical Branch Chief Cory Williams on the Mississippi River Levee system.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Memphis District recently met a tasker milestone known as “Ready to Advertise” for the Eight Mile Creek Levee Culvert Replacement Project in Greene County, Arkansas, Feb. 5, 2021.
