    JUNCTION CITY, Kan. — The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recognized a Geary County sheriff’s deputy and a Fort Riley Army soldier for heroism yesterday in Junction City, Kan. At the Geary County sheriff's office, Milford Lake Park Manager Ken Wenger presented two 'Act of Heroism' awards to Private 1st Class Chance Harriss, stationed at Fort Riley, Kan., and from Sacramento, Calif., and Deputy Rick Parsons, from Junction City, Kan., for saving the lives of two children.

    Baltimore District awarded an emergency contract Monday, July 30 in the amount of $357,846 to Cromedy Construction Corp., a small business headquartered out of Philadelphia, for work to repair the area of channel wall that collapsed along Codorus Creek July 26.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, awarded a contract Sept. 29, 2017, to Coastal Design & Construction Inc., a small business out of Gloucester, Virginia, in the amount of approximately $6.88 million for construction of a navigation improvement project at Rhodes Point on Smith Island, in collaboration with Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Somerset County.
  • Lake Red Rock Volunteers Receive National Award

    Chester and Phyllis Briggs, Newton residents and long-time Lake Red Rock volunteers, are two of this year's national recipients of the Enduring Service Volunteer Award. They will receive the award at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 28 at the Bass Pro Shops in Altoona, Iowa. The Corps Foundation established the award in January 2016 to honor long term service and outstanding accomplishments by individuals and families of volunteers at US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) lakes and waterways.
