  • District attorney selected for national award

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers headquarters, in Washington D.C., recently selected St. Paul District deputy district counsel and St. Paul, Minnesota resident, Vinai Vinlander as the recipient of the Joseph W. Kimbel award. The award recognizes the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers attorney who demonstrates the highest professional potential for future legal achievement.
  • Brewer lauded with USACE Chief Counsel's Honorary Award

    An attorney at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) was recently recognized during the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Chief Counsel’s Honorary Awards ceremony. Allison Brewer, who has been with the ERDC Office of Counsel for more than five years, was awarded the E. Manning Seltzer Award for Special Contributions, which is named for the Chief Legal Advisor to the Chief of Engineers and General Counsel of the USACE from 1956 until 1977. The award recognizes an attorney who has made one or more special contributions to the USACE legal service mission through the development of a legal theory, a legal management innovation or practice or outstanding performance in solving a legal or management problem.
  • USACE employee celebrates 50 years of federal service

    A member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District achieved a unique milestone as a government employee recently. Amy Burke, workforce management specialist, celebrated 50 years of federal service in a ceremony hosted by Col. Damon Delarosa, district commander, at the agency’s headquarters on June 24.

  • Woodbury, Minn. resident selected for award

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mississippi Valley Division, recently selected Woodbury, Minn. resident and St. Paul District security technician, Robert Altmann for its 2020 Lt. Col. Ronald C. Francis Best Antiterrorism Program Manager Award and its 2020 Antiterrorism Honor Roll.
  • 21-028 Walla Walla Levee Safety Team earns national honors

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Walla Walla District’s Levee Safety Team has won the 2020 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Levee Safety Team of the Year. The award, given by Headquarters, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, recognizes the best levee safety team in the nation for that year.
  • Rescue revetment task order awarded

    The Memphis District recently awarded a task order to restore existing revetment and repair over-steepened banks along the Mississippi River in Coahoma County, Mississippi, and Phillips County, Arkansas. A total of $1,344,000 was awarded on the current River Repairs IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity) Contract to Midwest Construction Company.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District was recognized as a “Best of 2020” donor by Mississippi Blood Services on Thursday.
  • Rast named USACE Silver Jackets Coordinator for 2019

    The Silver Jackets Coordinator of the Year Award recognizes outstanding individual USACE efforts and contributions to a Silver Jackets team. The award recipient for 2019 is Mr. Brian Rast, of the Kansas City District. Mr. Rast serves as the USACE Silver Jackets Coordinator for the Kansas and Missouri Silver Jackets teams and has made significant contributions to meeting the states’ priorities for flood risk management in these roles. Mr. Rast has utilized the State Silver Jackets teams’ webpages to effectively communicate the teams’ partnership and interagency efforts and to keep past work readily accessible for reference. He has focused on building relationships between federal agencies to support the state teams, including co-facilitating a USACE-FEMA Partnering Meeting and establishing a Federal Partners Mitigation Workgroup. Mr. Rast readily shares his knowledge and expertise by conducting training sessions with partners on floodplain management plans and nonstructural flood risk management approaches.
