    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, released the 2014 navigation statistics for the Upper Mississippi River today, Dec. 10. The 2014 navigation season was one of the shortest seasons on record. A historically late start, coupled by summer floods and emergency dredging, finished with the earliest closure at Lock and Dam 6, near Trempealeau, Wisconsin, since 1970. Despite the challenges, there were 2,726 lockages during the 2014 navigation season. There were 2,618 lockages during the 2013 season.

Despite the challenges, there were 2,395 lockages during the 2014 navigation season. There were 2,372 lockages during the 2013 season.

A historically late start, coupled by summer floods, finished with the earliest closure at Lock and Dam 9, near Lynxville, Wisconsin, since 1970. Despite the challenges, there were 2,948 lockages during the 2014 navigation season. There were 2,855 lockages during the 2013 season.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, released the 2014 navigation statistics for the Upper Mississippi River today, Dec. 10. The 2014 navigation season was one of the shortest seasons on record. A historically late start, coupled by summer floods, finished with the earliest closure at Lock and Dam 10, in Guttenberg, Iowa, since 1970. Despite the challenges, there were 2,847 lockages during the 2014 navigation season. There were 3,055 lockages during the 2013 season.
  • Corps reduces Missouri River dam releases to winter levels

    As part of the normal operation of the Mainstem Reservoir System, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Missouri River Basin Water Management Division has reduced releases from several Missouri River dams to winter levels.
  • Indian River IWW maintenance dredging starts in January

    Navigation maintenance dredging of the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) Indian River Reach 1 in the Indian River Lagoon will start in early January. In addition to improving navigation safety, the dredging will also provide significant environmental benefits by removing muck from the federal navigation channel.

    The $2.8-million maintenance dewatering of Morgantown Lock and Dam on the Monongahela River, Oct. 17 - Nov. 19, revealed unexpected deterioration that lengthened the repair schedule and complicated the work needed to fix critical components. But, skilled technicians and craftsmen from the Pittsburgh Repair Fleet and Pittsburgh Engineers Warehouse and Repair Station were up to the task.
