(March 7, 2014) – More than 20 ninth graders from Stratford STEM Magnet High School received educational lessons about water management on the Cumberland River and its tributaries, ecosystems for big rivers and small streams, hydropower operations, navigation and water safety on a field trip Feb. 27 at Old Hickory Dam.
  • CORPS CLOSES BIG DAM BRIDGE FOR INSPECTION

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District is closing the Big Dam Bridge, across Murray Lock and Dam, from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. March 10-14 while Corps personnel conduct a routine inspection of the bridge.
  • GREERS FERRY POWER PLANT TO BE TAKEN OFFLINE FOR REPAIRS

    HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. – The Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District will be taking the Greers Ferry Power Plant offline March 10 through April 24 for necessary repairs. Throughout the outage, one turbine will continuously release about 300 to 500 cubic feet per second into the Little Red River. A normal low flow release rate is 40 c.f.s. In comparison, a full power release from one turbine is about 3,500 c.f.s.
  • Lock and Dam 8 to reopen March 17

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, announced that Lock and Dam 8, near Genoa, Wis., will reopen March 17.
