Sacramento District projects receive ASCE awards
Two Sacramento area projects were recognized for their excellence during an awards dinner as part of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Region 9 and San Francisco Section’s annual infrastructure symposium April 22 in San Francisco. The Sacramento District took home two prizes amongst 21 categories of California projects including 2021 ASCE Region 9 Project of the Year and Flood Management Project of the Year.

Changing Fort Peck ice conditions
Flows through Fort Peck powerhouses will decrease through March 4. These flow reductions may impact ice conditions below the dam on the river and dredge cuts. Recreationists on the ice, both below and above the dam, are urged to use extreme caution.

Corps dams help LA, Orange counties capture $25M in December stormwater runoff
With the help of the Los Angeles District, stakeholders in Southern California captured approximately 30,000-acre feet of stormwater runoff valued at $25 million for local groundwater replenishment during December’s heavy rainfall.

22-005 Columbia and Snake river navigation locks will close in February for annual maintenance
COLUMBIA & SNAKE RIVERS, Ore. & Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District will close the District’s navigation locks on the Columbia and Snake rivers in February for regularly-scheduled annual inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs.

Army engineers and planners are considering major changes that may impact the continued operations and maintenance of the Willamette Valley System (WVS). U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) staff continue developing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for WVS operations and maintenance in accordance with authorized project purposes, while meeting Endangered Species Act (ESA) obligations to avoid jeopardizing the continued existence of listed species.
