  • ONE LANE OF HIGHWAY 177 ACROSS NORFORK DAM TO TEMPORILY CLOSE FOR DAM MAINTENANCE

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – One lane of Highway 177 across Norfork Lake will be closed at 6:30 a.m. each Monday and remain closed until 6 p.m. each Thursday except federal holidays beginning Monday, June 24 for about 180 days to conduct maintenance on the dam’s tainter gates. Both lanes will be open Friday thru Sunday.

  • Officials cancel Gathright Dam pulse release

    Federal and commonwealth officials have canceled Gathright Dam’s pulse release scheduled for Tuesday. The Norfolk District, in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, determined that June’s higher-than-average flows in the Jackson River eliminated the need for the first planned pulse release.

The staff was on hand providing water safety tips and handing out water safety materials to the more than 550 children and adults who stopped by the District's booth.
