Corps announces milestone on Bean Lake levee repairs
The Kansas City District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has reached a milestone within the Bean Lake Levee Association and is scheduled to host an event on May 16 to recognize the achievement of restoring the levees to their 2011 pre-flood level of protection.

Corps reaches milestones on Elliott Bay Seawall project
This week the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers made progress on two separate action paths for the City of Seattle’s Elliott Bay Seawall project. First, a Feasibility Scoping Meeting, or FSM, was completed on May 7 by the Corps’ Seattle District Civil Works Branch for the General Investigation study. Second, the District’s Regulatory Branch made a preliminary decision to move forward with an Environmental Assessment on the city’s effort to self-perform a fast-tracked project.

Leaders from the Corps of Engineers joined officials from the American Battle Monuments Commission, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources and others to break ground for the new Vietnam Pavilions Project at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl on May 9.

Corps awards Fort Irwin Replacement Hospital contract
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District awarded a $159.8 million contract May 9 to Turner Construction Company, of Washington D.C., for the construction of a replacement hospital at Fort Irwin, Calif.
