• Corps closes Lock and Dam 3 due to high Mississippi River flows

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, closed Lock and Dam 3, located upstream of Red Wing, Minnesota, to all traffic until further notice due to high flows over 125,000 cubic feet per second, or cfs. It is anticipated that this lock will be reopened July 4, but it is weather dependent.

  • Parking for Lake Shelbyville 4th of July Fireworks

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is gearing up for the 4th of July at Lake Shelbyville. Fireworks will be launched at dusk from Ramp Point, located in Dam West Recreation Area. Lake Shelbyville has compiled a list of locations best suited for viewing the fireworks.
  • Swimming Area Closed at Blue Marsh Lake

    Swimming at the Dry Brooks Day Use Area of Blue Marsh Lake is currently restricted due to high bacteria levels. Water tests will be done daily until the levels return to a safe level for public use. This only affects the water area, picnicking and boating will not be restricted at the lake. We would also like to remind those visitors that choose to enter the water at other areas of the lake, that the water in those areas is not tested and that swimming at Blue Marsh Lake is “swim at your own risk.” Updates will be provided as conditions change.
