• Breaking ground: New flight base ops facility to supercharge Fairchild AFB's global reach

    Leadership and representatives across the 92nd Air Refueling Wing, 92nd Operations Group, 141st Air Refueling Wing, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Garco Construction and more, gathered at the future site of Fairchild's new Consolidated Flight Base Operations Facility on May 9 to celebrate its groundbreaking milestone. The $48 million facility will serve as a central hub for more than a dozen Active, Guard and Reserve organizations to support the installation’s aerial refueling mission and operational readiness for years to come.
  • Little Rock District announces reduction in services at Bull Shoals and Norfork Lakes

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is preparing to temporarily adjust services at Bull Shoals and Norfork Lakes beginning May 12, 2025 because of staffing shortages and safety concerns. This proactive measure is for visitor safety and will allow USACE to focus resources on other priority areas.

    The North Shore Campground at the Big Bend Project near Fort Thompson, South Dakota, will reopen to the public on May 15, 2025.
  • Congressional representatives, media tour J. Strom Thurmond to assess hurricane recovery progress

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, hosted a tour of the J. Strom Thurmond Dam and Lake Project for Georgia and South Carolina congressional delegation representatives, to inform them on impacts of Hurricane Helene and ongoing efforts to restore public access to areas around the lake.
  • Nolin River Lake recreational facilities impacted by high water

    As the recreation season approaches, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District is providing an update regarding USACE-managed recreation areas at Nolin River Lake in Bee Spring, Kentucky, as it pertains to the recent high-water event. Nolin River Lake is working to assess, clean, and repair recreation facilities affected by spring flooding. Based on current conditions, we are adjusting our anticipated opening schedule as follows (subject to change).
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers encourages use of Regulatory Request System for an improved permitting experience

    Last year the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers introduced its new Regulatory Request System (RRS), an online application portal that allows the public to submit permit applications and other information when requesting permission to dredge, fill or conduct activities in jurisdictional wetlands and waters of the U.S.
  • Releases from Garrison Dam to be temporarily lowered

    To assist with the recovery of a tugboat that sank on the Missouri River on Tuesday, May 6, releases from Garrison Dam will be reduced.
  • Dredging Starting in Barcelona Harbor

    Dredging of the Barcelona Harbor federal navigation channel by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District and its contractor, Michigan-based Ryba Marine Construction Company will begin May 15. Dredging will clear regular sediment build-up, as well as shoaling from overtopping of the harbor’s west breakwater, ensuring safe navigation and accessible depths for vessels traveling the Great Lakes.

    Katelyn Huesby, a mechanical engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Walla Walla District, has been chosen as one of five USACE participants for the 2025 session of the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center University (ERDC-U).

Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, called upon the Wilmington District’s Dredge MURDEN for an innovative mission to help clear critical shoaling to maintain safe and efficient navigation conditions for military and commercial vessels in the harbor.
