  • Missouri River public meetings canceled; options under consideration

    To further reduce potential exposure to COVID-19, public meetings on Missouri River Mainstem Reservoir System operations have been canceled. “To protect the public and Corps employees, and to adhere to guidance issued by state and local governments, we have canceled the public meetings originally scheduled for April 6-14.,” said John Remus, chief of the Corps’ Missouri Basin Water Management Division.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District is providing initial planning and engineering support for the States of New Jersey and Delaware to address possible medical facility shortages due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The mission, in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the two states, is part of a nationwide federal, state and local effort to respond to the public health emergency.

    The Office of the Under Secretary of Defense-Acquisitions and Sustainment released a memo today regarding class justifications for procurements. Effective immediately, for procurements valued at $100 million or less, contracting officers are not required to execute a justification and obtain approval for award of a sole source contract under the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) program.
