USACE employees go green in April
From tree planting and spring cleanups to a “Green Campus Initiative,” U.S. Army Corps of Engineers personnel are making a difference as Earth Day approaches on April 22. Although Army Corps of Engineers employees take time to do something good for the environment on a daily basis, each April there is an increased emphasis on getting outdoors and working with community groups to do just a little bit more.

EPA and Army Corps of Engineers clarify protection for nation’s streams and wetlands
On March 25, 2014, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) jointly released a proposed rule to clarify protection under the Clean Water Act for streams and wetlands that form the foundation of the nation’s water resources. In addition, EPA and the Department of the Army for Civil Works announced an interpretive rule for the 404(f)(1)(A) exemption under the Clean Water Act. The interpretive rule clarifies what specific Natural Resources Conservation Service conservation practices qualify as "upland soil and water conservation practices" under the Clean Water Act. Christian P.M. Klinefelter: Army Corps of Engineers Servant Leader
Christian P.M. Klinefelter received the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal on Feb. 5 in a ceremony at the Headquarters of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Washington, D.C. Klinefelter received the award for his leadership as the Chief of the Ministerial Engagement Team of the ISAF Joint Command Headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Baltimore District team deploys to support an overseas contingency operation
A nine-person team of specialists deployed Feb. 8 to support a U.S. Army -- Central Command mission. Known as the 71st Engineer Detachment now under the command of Maj. Timika Wilson, the FEST-A (Forward Engineer Support Team -- Advanced) team flew to Kuwait enroute to Amman, Jordan, to replace a similar team from Europe District.
