  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announce closure of fishing pier at Navarro Mills Lake

    FORT WORTH, Texas – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District will begin staging material and equipment behind the dam at Navarro Mills Lake to repair the discharge channel slope and fishing pier approximately July 24. Access to the fishing pier will be temporarily closed while the material and equipment is being delivered. Work on the discharge channel slope will begin on the west side of the discharge channel, therefore the fishing area, which is located on the east side of the discharge channel, will re-open after the material and equipment is delivered.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin erosion repairs below Dexter Dam, southeast of Eugene, July 10. The repairs may disrupt access to the south shore fishing area until July 20.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. Just like preparing a home, an apartment, or a recreational vehicle for the next season, the key to maintaining facilities at campgrounds is planning.
  • Bridge maintenance impacts boaters on Okeechobee Waterway

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District is alerting boaters of a route closure that will impact travel along the southern part of Lake Okeechobee. The Corps learned today that crews from Palm Beach County will conduct emergency maintenance on the Torrey Island Bridge which crosses Okeechobee Waterway Route 2 near Belle Glade. While the repairs are underway, crews will suspend operations of the swinging bridge, effectively closing the route to most vessels.

  • Repairs impact operations at Ortona Lock

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District is advising boaters on the Okeechobee Waterway that they could encounter delays as they navigate through Ortona Lock due to repairs. The Corps has developed an alternate locking schedule that will be in effect during replacement of guide walls on either side of the lock. The schedule will be in effect when work obstructs the navigation channel or whenever divers are in the area. The repair work is expected to last through the rest of the summer.
  • NR 16-013: Surface drainage correction requires lane closure on Highway 127 across Wolf Creek Dam

    Jamestown, Ky. (May 20, 2016) – During a road restoration project on Highway 127 over Wolf Creek Dam, contractors found a pocket of voids on Monday at the edge of the roadway, the result of surface drainage erosion. The Corps’ engineers have been on site since then to determine the most efficient and timely solution in order to reduce the extended lane closures currently in effect for the project.
