  • Construction begins on the Vermilion Harbor east pier

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, and its contractor, Kovilic Construction Company Inc., began repairs of the Vermilion Harbor east pier, located in Vermilion, Ohio, on 11 June 2021. The current $1.825 million contract was awarded on September 30, 2020. The Corps of Engineers is using available funds to repair 216 feet of the most degraded section of the Vermilion Harbor east pier. Repair of the remaining degraded reach of the east pier is dependent upon receiving additional funding.
  • Army Corps to conduct repairs on St. Georges Bridge

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District and its contractor Freyssinet, Inc. will be completing joint seal repairs on the St. Georges Bridge in Delaware. Work will begin Monday June 14 and last for about two weeks. Both lanes of the bridge will remain open during the project; however, a lane shift through the bike lane may be enacted.

    The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced sections of Walter Dam Road (and through traffic between Bear Creek Road and Route 940) will be closed from April 26 through June 30 for repairs and road reconstruction.
  • Corps of Engineers to temporarily close road at Tygart Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District will temporarily close Paul E. Malone Road at Tygart Lake to perform road repairs beginning March 29. Repairs will be made to the half-mile of the road owned by the corps and will last three months.
  • 21-009 Mill Creek levees repaired after damage from 2020 Flood

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District completed repairs to sections of the Mill Creek Levee System that were damaged during the February 2020 flooding.
  • 20-052 Floating Guidewall Cable replaced at Lower Monumental, restrictions still in place

    Kahlotus, Wash. – On June 13, an operator at Lower Monumental Lock and Dam noticed that the floating guidewall had drifted out of alignment. A service cable inspection and repair dive were conducted and discovered, on July 28, that the anchor cable had broken, allowing the guidewall to swing towards the dam until broken cables snagged in the mud. To prevent further movement, and to allow grain to continue moving down river, Corps officials brought in a tugboat to hold the guidewall in place. The tugboat held the guidewall in place from Aug. 1 until Sep. 22.
