  • ERDC’s H2Rescue truck drives into GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ Books

    In a partnership with Accelera™ by Cummins, a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title has been set for the longest distance traveled by a hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) heavy-duty truck without refueling. This prototype truck, designed for emergency response missions, is part of a collaborative project between the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), the U.S. Department of Energy’s Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office and Vehicle Technologies Office, the U.S. Army Ground Vehicle Systems (GVSC) Center, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Science & Technology Directorate (DHS S&T), the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory and Accelera™ by Cummins.

  • San Francisco District planning team applies nature-based solutions to Roi-Namur recovery efforts

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers San Francisco District’s knowledge of and push for Engineering with Nature principles and designs reached a new high as the district’s EWN expertise jumped an ocean all the way to Roi-Namur, the second largest island of the Kwajalein Atoll in the western central Pacific Ocean. It’s part of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and it lies 2,100 nautical miles southwest of Honolulu and about 4,200 nautical miles southwest of San Francisco. On Oct. 11, a San Francisco District project development team submitted its preliminary EWN and non-EWN design plans to protect facilities against large waves to the USACE Honolulu District to present to the U.S. Army Garrison – Kwajalein Atoll and U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command.

    RICHLAND, Wash. – In partnership with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) and the Yakama Nation (YN), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District (USACE) is releasing the results of its Yakima Delta ecological restoration feasibility report, a detailed study concerning the ecological implications and outlining proposed actions to restore the Yakima River Delta.

  • River training structure repairs progressing on Missouri River: Bipartisan Infrastructure Law pivotal

    The flood of 2019 made apparent the need for extensive repairs on the Missouri River training devices – dikes and revetments – that direct the downstream flow into the navigation channel to keep it deep enough for boat traffic and generally clear of debris. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law allocated $248 million to repair those devices that are on the lower stretch of the Missouri River.
