    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 19, 2017) – Boating enthusiasts attending the 31st annual Progressive Nashville Boat & Sportshow at the Nashville Music City Center are encouraged to navigate to the Corps of Engineers booth to get important information about local lakes before embarking on the water this recreation season.

  • Corps awards contract to build temporary boat launch during Isabella Dam construction

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $5.7 million contract Dec. 23 to Spectrum-Straub JV of Sacramento to construct a temporary boat launch and parking at French Gulch Recreation Area as part of the Isabella Lake Dam Safety Modification Project.

  • Army Corps resumes oyster restoration in Tred Avon River sanctuary

    The Baltimore District resumed the construction of oyster reef in the Tred Avon River Oyster Sanctuary in Talbot County, Dec. 14, 2016. Eight acres of reef will be restored using aged mixed shell in water depths greater than 9 feet mean lower low water.

  • Employee Spotlight: Park Ranger Kenneth Myers

    Ken Myers is a 45-year-old Corps of Engineers Sacramento District ranger for Hensley Lake and has worked for the Corps for four years. He has also worked at H.V. Eastman Lake. Along with those mentioned, Myers’ other duties include being a Certified Playground Safety Inspector, Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle operator and SPK Water Safety Committee member. He is a former U.S. Army Military Police and a Disabled Veteran.

  • New online maps show storm-based flood potential along Potomac, Anacostia rivers

    New digital maps allow government leaders, emergency managers, and the public to view potential flood impacts during high-water events along the Potomac and Anacostia rivers throughout the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia and nearby communities. The maps are now live on the National Weather Service’s web site.

  • Corps of Engineers completes projects to manage stormwater at two Hyattsville elementary schools

    Baltimore District, in coordination with the Prince George’s County Department of the Environment, completed the construction of multiple projects to manage stormwater at both Ridgecrest Elementary and César Chávez Dual Spanish Immersion schools in Hyattsville, Maryland.

  • Corps, cities of Bristol celebrate completion of flood risk reduction project

    BRISTOL, Tenn. (Nov. 9, 2016) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District joined the cities of Bristol, Virginia and Tennessee along with the Tennessee Valley Authority to celebrate the completion of the Beaver Creek Flood Reduction Project during a ceremony today at Jerry Good pasture Plaza in Bristol, Tenn.
