    Since joining the Corps, Woody Francis has assisted in the development of the first general permits for the nation and the Baltimore District in 1976 and worked his way up to become the technical expert for aquaculture activities in Maryland. It’s his most recent work for the aquaculture program that led him to receive the national Don Lawyer Regulator of the Year Award.

  • Construction continues on Marysville Ring Levee

    Construction of a small but necessary section of the Marysville Ring Levee is underway and should be completed by mid-August 2017, maintaining momentum on the project to lessen flood risk in the northern California town of Marysville. The current construction was funded at approximately $825,000 and the site is located in the center of a railway intersection known as Binney Junction, adjacent to the Catholic Cemetery of Marysville.

  • Simko named Sacramento District Regulator of the Year

    Heidi Simko, a regulatory assistant for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, has been named the 2016 District Regulator of the Year and awarded the Randy Snyder Regulatory Excellence Award. She earned the award for her “outstanding reliability, can-do spirit and unwavering commitment to the team and the regulatory mission throughout the year,” said Mike Jewell, chief of Regulatory Division.
