  • NR 14-010: Corps invites the public to tour Old Hickory Lock and Dam

    OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (May 8, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Old Hickory Lake is now accepting registration applications for the Saturday, May 17, lock and dam tour beginning at 11 a.m. at the Old Hickory Lock parking area. Free to the public and approximately 75 minutes in length, the guided tour will give registered participants an opportunity to not only view the facilities, but also learn about the lake’s history and important role the navigational lock and powerhouse facilities play with the cities and towns along the Cumberland River.
  • NR 14-009: Laurel River Lake restrooms renovated, ready for recreation season

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 6, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District has renovated the restrooms nearby the beach at Laurel River Dam in London, Ky., in time for the 2014 recreation season.
  • NR 14-008: Corps offers tours of Dale Hollow Lake Power Plant

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 6, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is offering the public free guided tours of the Dale Hollow Power Plant in Celina, Tenn. These are the first tours of the power plant since the Corps restricted visitations after 9-11. Not all portions of the dam will be accessible to the public due to safety concerns.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 1, 2014) – Lake Cumberland in eastern Kentucky surpassed elevation 723 feet last night assuring the recreation season will begin with the reservoir at its historic summer pool level for the first time since 2006.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 28, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is offering the public free guided tours of the Cordell Hull Dam Power Plant and Lock in Carthage, Tenn. These are the first tours of the power plant since visitation was restricted after Sept. 11, 2001. Not all portions of the dam will be accessible to the public due to safety concerns.
  • Wounded Warriors Outdoors find therapy in hunting, fishing at Lake Cumberland

    JAMESTOWN, Tenn. (April 28, 2014) – Park Rangers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and local volunteers from the Lake Cumberland area hosted a group from the Wounded Warrior Outdoors program for a fishing trip and wild turkey hunt at the Lake Cumberland State Park today.
