  • Perry Lake swim beach closed for 2018 season

    PERRY, KAN. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Perry Lake announce that the public swim beach will be closed for public safety due to ongoing recreation upgrades. Once the improvements to the swim beach are complete, visitors will enjoy new outdoor wash stations and a new restroom. In addition to the recreation upgrades, the Corps is working to stabilize the beach shoreline and adding a retaining wall.
  • Crest Road Closed Due to Blizzard

    Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, S.D., will close at 2 p.m.on Friday, April 13 due to the impending blizzard. The road will remain closed until conditions improve. Blowing and drifting snow makes travel across the Crest Road extremely hazardous. It is recommended that all travelers use the Discovery Bridge on Highway 81.

  • Cougar Dam Road closure extended

    The road over Cougar Dam and Reservoir, located on the South Fork of the McKenzie River, will remain closed due to construction and a geotechnical investigation through the end of February 2018. The west side of Cougar Reservoir and access to Terwilliger Hot Springs from Forest Service Road 19, about 3 miles south of the dam, remains blocked due to rockfall.
  • Kansas City District recreation areas closed

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District is closing USACE-operated facilities due to the shutdown of the federal government for lack of fiscal 2018 funding legislation. We regret the impacts of these required actions on the recreating public, and will make every attempt to inform the public when these facilities reopen.
  • NR 17-043: Martins Fork Dam, fishing pier area closing for debris removal

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 26, 2017) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that Martins Fork Dam and fishing pier area are closing Jan. 8, 2018 for approximately 30 days while crews work to remove accumulated debris from the stilling basin. A structural inspection is also being performed during the closure.
  • NR 17-042: Water lines replacement scheduled at Dale Hollow Dam Campground

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 14, 2017) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that work to replace water lines at Dale Hollow Dam Campground in Celina, Tenn., begins Dec. 18, 2017, making it necessary to close public access. The work is scheduled to be completed in March 2018, weather permitting.
  • Road across Gavins Point Dam closed November 14

    Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, S.D., will be closed 8 a.m. through 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14 to perform maintenance on the spillway. The public is asked to plan on an alternate route of travel during this time.
  • Lewis and Clark Visitor Center closes for the season on November 9

    The Lewis and Clark Visitor Center near Yankton will close for the winter season effective Thursday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. The center will reopen in February 2018.
