  • Mississippi River mainline levees Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement virtual public meetings scheduled

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) scheduled two virtual public meetings for its Draft Supplement II (Draft SEIS II) to the 1976 Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS), Mississippi River and Tributaries (MR&T) Project, Mississippi River Mainline Levees (MRL). The meetings will be streamed on the following dates on the USACE New Orleans District’s Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/usacenola/ Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020 at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020 at 6 p.m.

  • Federal agencies release final Columbia River System Operations environmental impact statement

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation and Bonneville Power Administration today released the Columbia River System Operations Final Environmental Impact Statement. The issuance of the final EIS is a substantial step toward accomplishment of a priority item of the Presidential Memorandum on Promoting the Reliable Supply and Delivery of Water in the West issued in October 2018.

  • Vicksburg District to prepare supplemental environmental impact statement for Yazoo Backwater Pumps Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District announced April 16 that it will prepare a supplemental environmental impact statement (SEIS) for the Yazoo Area Pump Project in the Yazoo Backwater Area in Mississippi. The public is invited to read the notice of intent for the SEIS, which is published in the Federal Register at the following link: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2020/04/16/2020-07966/notice-of-intent-to-prepare-supplemental-environmental-impact-statement-for-the-yazoo-area-pump and to provide comments in accordance with guidance in the notice.

  • Corps Issues Notice of Intent for Buffalo Bayou and Tributaries Resiliency Study

    HOUSTON—The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District has filed a Notice of Intent (NOI) in the Federal Register informing the public it formally plans to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Feasibility Report for the Buffalo Bayou and Tributaries Resiliency Study. The EIS will assess the likely social, economic and environmental effects of a range of potential alternative plans that would reduce the risk of flooding along Buffalo Bayou and its tributaries, both upstream and downstream of Addicks and Barker dams, in Harris and Fort Bend Counties, Texas. The EIS will also evaluate the impacts of potential alternatives that address dam safety concerns at Addicks and Barker dams.

  • Corps to release draft report on ecosystem restoration plan for East San Pedro Bay

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District is preparing to release a draft report recommending restoration of aquatic habitat within East San Pedro Bay. The report identifies a Tentatively Selected Plan, which would be the Corps’ first open-ocean ecosystem restoration project in the nation. The plan would provide near-shore and off-shore rocky reefs, kelp reefs and eelgrass beds, and is referred to as the Reef Restoration Plan.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District is preparing to release a draft report recommending restoration of aquatic habitat within East San Pedro Bay. The City of Long Beach is the local sponsor.
