The tow haulage equipment at Norrell Lock (No. 1) NM 10.3 has been repaired and returned to service.

MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 24-88 Norrell Lock tow haulage out of service

The tow haulage equipment at Norrell Lock (No. 1) NM 10.3 is currently out of service due to an electrical issue. Double cut tows will have to be locked the conventional way (without the use of tow haulage). A follow up notice will be distributed when the tow haulage equipment is back in service.

MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 24- 87 MPLD NavPass Open

Due to increased river elevations, the crest gate dam at Montgomery Point Lock and Dam (NM 0.5) is lowered and the navigation pass is open.   When the Montgomery Point Lock and Dam tailwater elevation drops below 115 ft., the navigation pass will be closed.

Gavins Point Dam releases to be reduced to winter release rate

Gavins Point Dam releases will be reduced in late November as flow support to navigation ends. Releases are currently 32,000 cubic feet per second.

The tow haulage equipment at Murray Lock (No. 7) NM 125.4 will be taken out of service on December 2, 2024 to facilitate work on the new tow haulage system.

MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 24- 83 Lock 3 Closure

Mariners are advised that Joe Hardin Lock (No. 3) NM 50.2 will be closed to traffic beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on November 13, 2024. The lock closure is required to facilitate ongoing work on the hydraulic system.

Corps of Engineers closing 3 locks and dams for winter maintenance

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is closing three of its locks and dams for winter maintenance Dec. 9. The closures will officially end the 2024 navigation season on the Upper Mississippi River between Hastings, Minnesota, and Lynxville, Wisconsin.
