  • Corps closing Minneapolis locks to all traffic due to high flows on the Mississippi River

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will close its three twin cities locks to commercial navigation at 8 a.m., June 27, when flows surpass 40,000 cubic feet per second, or cfs. The three locks were closed to recreation boaters Monday when flows exceeded 30,000 cfs.

    LAVINIA, Tenn. – Lt. Col. J. Kaye Steed, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Civil Engineering technician in the Navigation Branch relieved Lt. Col. Barry L. Collins in a change of command ceremony as the commander of the Tennessee U.S. Army National Guard 168th Military Police Battalion on June 14, 2013 at the a Tennessee National Guard’s Volunteer Training Site-Milan, in Lavinia,Tenn.

  • Corps begins Rudee Inlet dredging

    The Army Corps of Engineers will begin dredging the Rudee Inlet Federal Navigation Project here Monday. The Corps’ dredge Merritt, based out of Wilmington, N.C., will dredge for four days to remove shoaling in the channel. Engineers expect to dredge about 20,000 cubic yards of material, which will be placed directly north of the entrance channel and inlet jetties. The $78,000 project is 72 percent federally funded. Virginia Beach will fund the remaining 28 percent.
