  • USACE Galveston District awards $8.87 million contract to dredge Matagorda Ship Channel

    GALVESTON, Texas (Dec. 14, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded a contract to Orion Marine Construction Inc. in the amount of $8,876,000 for maintenance dredging of the Matagorda Ship Channel to include a critically shoaled area of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway near the entrance channel in Matagorda County, Texas.
  • Survey crews to start work on Tangier Jetty

    Physical work on the feasibility phase of the Tangier Jetty program is set to begin this week, weather dependant. A Norfolk District survey crew will operate in the water where the jetty is to be built at the federal navigation channel entranceway on the western side of the island.

    GALVESTON, Texas (Dec. 7, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded a contract to Orion Marine Construction Inc. in the amount of $2,988,900 for maintenance dredging of the Bayport Ship Channel in Chambers and Harris counties, Texas.
  • The Dalles Dam prepares for emergency lock repairs

    Portland District personnel are preparing for emergency repairs to one of the downstream miter gates at The Dalles navigation lock between Dec. 5 and Dec. 7.
  • USACE Galveston District awards $3 million small business contract for geotechnical services

    GALVESTON, Texas (Dec. 4, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded a small business contract to Baton Rouge, La.-based Quaternary Resource Investigations LLC in the estimated amount of $3 million for geotechnical services including soils investigations (core borings, soils sampling) and lab testing.
  • The Dalles navigation lock to close for repairs

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close The Dalles navigation lock between 6 a.m. Dec. 5 and 6 p.m. Dec. 7 for repairs to its downstream gate. Navigation locks at Bonneville and John Day dams will remain open for normal operations.

    GALVESTON, Texas (Nov. 19, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded a contract in the amount of $1,382,700 to New Orleans-based Bailey-CKY, a small disadvantaged veteran-owned small business, to perform construction of dewatering ditches at the San Jacinto Placement Area relating to the Galveston harbor and channel in Galveston County, Texas.
