They also navigated to the Kentucky Lock Addition Project for a construction update and better understanding of how the larger lock will help unlock congested commercial barge traffic.

  • Officials break ground on K-25 Viewing Platform

    OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (May 11, 2023) – Officials broke ground today on a building that will provide a historic lookout over the footprint where the K-25 Building once stood and the Oak Ridge Diffusion Plant produced uranium during World War II as part of the Manhattan Project. Dignitaries welcomed guests, made speeches, and shoveled dirt to officially kick off construction of the K-25 Viewing Platform at East Tennessee Technology Park.

  • REMEDIAL INVESTIGATION REPORT AND PROPOSED PLAN AVAILABLE PUBLIC MEETING TO BE CONDUCTED FOR THE SUPERIOR STEEL SITE

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Buffalo District is pleased to announce the release of the remedial investigation report and the proposed plan for the Superior Steel Site for public comment. The 37-acre industrial property is located at 500 Superior Street, in Scott Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, approximately five miles southwest of downtown Pittsburgh.

  • NR 23-13: Kendall Recreation Area closure extended into August 2023

    JAMESTOWN, Ky. (May 2, 2023) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that Kendall Campground and Day Use Area, to include its boat ramp and roadway along the riverside campground, will remain closed into August 2023 as repairs continue to rehabilitate flood damage sustained in February 2019.

  • ERDC leadership visits Jacksonville District Puerto Rico Projects

    SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, Antilles Office and the Puerto Rico Integrated Projects Office hosted a recent visit by Dr. David W. Pittman, Director of the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) as well as representatives of its seven laboratories. 

  • Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area Welcomes Visitors for 2023 Season

    The William B. Hoyt II Visitor Center at the Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area opens to the public on Monday, May 1 for its 2023 visitor season. This year inside-the-dam tours will be offered daily with online advanced tour reservations.
