  • BOY SCOUT PROJECT IMPROVES CORPS’ MOSSY BLUFF HIKING TRAIL

    HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. – Heber Springs Boy Scout Troop 754 improved the Army Corps of Engineers Mossy Bluff Trail on Greers Ferry Lake as part of an Eagle Scout project. The scouts constructed a drainage system, and retaining walls to reduce erosion on the trail. They also resurfaced a portion of the trail making it easier for hikers to traverse.

Gant and Kurt Wagener, field engineer for the Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority (AMAFCA), presented two merit badges to Girl Scout Troop #35, March 22, 2014. The girls had helped the Corps and AMAFCA with an ecosystem project, creating burrowing owl habitats.

    The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 81, in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Lake, will conduct a personal watercraft and boating safety course at the West Point Project Management Office on April 15 and 17, 2014 from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., Eastern Standard Time. This course will provide information on legal requirements, navigation rules, preventing personal watercraft and boating accidents, and new boating laws.
