  • Burnsville Lake Mussel Study

    This summer you may notice several blue barrels floating by the Dam. Those barrels are part of an ongoing mussel study that is being conducted through a partnership between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.
  • Burnsville Lake Hosts First Aid and CPR Training

    ​The Burnsville Lake new office addition was used to host a joint first aid and CPR training for 18 staff members from both Burnsville and Sutton Lakes and 5 volunteers.
  • Halloween Spooktacular with Bobber

    This year’s Halloween Spooktacular with Bobber was held at the Burnsville Lake Riffle Run Campground. Participants enjoyed learning about water safety. Additionally, they made and took home a canvas painting of Bobberto remind them to be safe during Halloween. Bobber the water safety dog promoted checking your candy just like you check your life jacket!Campers and community members participated in a scavenger hunt in which kids got to learn about the Riffle Run Campground and our staff.

  • Burnsville Lake to Host Living History Weekend

    HUNTINGTON, W. Va. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Burnsville Lake in Burnsville, W.Va., in partnership with Wise's Legion, an authentic Civil War living history organization, and the Friends of Burnsville Lake will host a living history weekend that begins Oct. 7, 2016 and will wrap up with a reenactment of the Battle of Bulltown on Oct. 9 at the Bulltown Historic Area.

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Burnsville Lake in Burnsville, W.Va., will host a visit to the Civil War era at the 2016 Heritage Day Festival on July 16, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bulltown Historic Area.
  • 2016 Wallback Lake Youth Fishing Derby

    On April 16 Burnsville Lake Park Ranger Ben Coulter and Bobber the Water Safety Dog attended the 2016 Wallback Lake Youth Fishing Derby. The youth fishing event was a great opportunity to provide water safety information to several hundred children and their parents.
  • Dredging Prepares Boat Ramp at Burnsville Lake

    Across the state, lakes operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, are kept at winter pool level – lower than normal, to allow more room for storing water when the Spring rains arrive.
