• USACE issues small craft advisory for Arkansas River

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is issuing a small craft advisory for the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System in Arkansas. Recent heavy rainfall in Western Arkansas will cause Arkansas River flows to exceed 70,000 cubic feet per second systemwide over the next few days.

  • ERDC and USM equip the military with new airfield mat coating technology

    Recently, members of Marine Wing Support Squadron 271, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, and researchers from the University of Southern Mississippi participated in an Airfield Matting Resurfacing experiment at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC). AM2 matting is an aluminum matting system developed in the 1960s to provide temporary aircraft landing surfaces in austere locations around the world.

  • Buffalo District Commander Makes First Visit to VA Canandaigua

    (CANANDAIGUA, N.Y.) - Lt. Col. Robert Burnham, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, made a significant visit to the Canandaigua VA Medical Facility, marking his first visit as district commander on Dec. 18, 2024. It was a purposeful visit, beginning with a tribute to retired Army Master Sgt. Stan Sharp, a decorated veteran and former military policeman and combat engineer, with more than 30 years of military service.
