    New Interactive Tools in Support USACE’s Recreation Areas

    Through the Natural Resources Management (NRM) support team, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) Institute for Water Resources (IWR) with the Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Environmental Lab have implemented new interactive Web tools to support USACE’s recreation areas in response to COVID-19 Pandemic.
  • Colonel Andrew Kelly is the Commander and District Engineer of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District. Colonel Kelly assumed command on August 24, 2018.

    Col. Kelly on Lake Okeechobee: balancing project purposes

    One of the challenges we face at the Jacksonville District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is balancing all of the purposes of managing Lake Okeechobee given to us by Congress – flood control, water supply, navigation, recreation, and preservation of fish and wildlife resources. As we enter rainy season, we will keep focusing on balancing the purposes of lake water management and setting favorable conditions.

The Jan. 7 Los Angeles County wildfires debris removal operation was one of our largest, most challenging missions. More than 1,400 USACE personnel deployed from across the nation and from our district to support debris removal operations. /6

To date, USACE has removed more than 2.6 million tons of debris — the equivalent of more than 218,000 truckloads. /4

  • 20-044 Irrigation pump for Lewiston Levee breaks; Corps makes plans for replacement

    Clarkston, Wash. -- Maintenance staff from the Lower Granite Natural Resources Management Office, part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District (Corps), have discovered that the irrigation pump responsible for operating the irrigation system along the Snake River section of the Lewiston Levee, has stopped working.

  • Pittsburgh District power team deploys in support of Tropical Storm Isaias response

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District’s temporary emergency power planning and response team deployed to Connecticut to provide generator power to critical facilities in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Isaias, Aug. 7. 

  • Fort Peck releases to change slightly

    Releases from Fort Peck dam will be increased from 9,000 cubic feet per second to as much as 11,000 cfs to address conditions immediately downstream of the dam. Releases will begin increasing on Aug. 14, or once planned maintenance projects at the Fort Peck power house are completed.
