    USACE extends comment period on draft National Levee Safety Guidelines

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today it is extending the comment period on the draft first edition of the National Levee Safety Guidelines to Aug. 31, 2024. The guidelines were developed with stakeholder input under the National Levee Safety Program and released for public review on April 1, 2024.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Releases 2024-2027 Climate Adaptation Plan

    Today, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers joined more than 20 other federal agencies to release its 2024-2027 Climate Adaptation Plan and expand the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts to ensure federal operations are increasingly resilient to climate change impacts. The updated adaptation plans advance the administration’s National Climate Resilience Framework, which helps to align climate resilience investments across the public and private sector through common principles and opportunities for action to build a climate resilient nation.
  • Senior leaders from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) conduct a three-day conference in Frederick, Maryland at the VA Acquisition Academy earlier in June. The VA/USACE Super Construction Program manages over 30 super construction projects valued at over $14 billion nation-wide and is part of the wide variety of programs and services the VA offers which support the wellness and care of a veteran population of over 22 million.

    Senior leaders from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) conducted a three-day strategy conference in Frederick, Maryland at the VA Acquisition Academy earlier in June.
  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hosts delegates from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the World Bank as part of a study on nature-based solutions funded by the World Bank. During their eight-day visit with USACE. The engagement aligns with the U.S. Global Water Strategy and the Mekong-U.S. Partnership as well as reinforces the U.S.-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, or STEM, and environmental diplomacy.

    USACE Hosts Vietnamese and World Bank Delegation for a Study Tour on Nature-Based Solutions

    For over 15 years, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has actively engaged in initiatives that share best practices in water management, disaster risk mitigation, and sustainable development across the Indo-Pacific region. Collaboration with our international partners and allies not only contributes to community resilience within the region but also fosters peace, stability, cooperation, and development worldwide. Earlier this month, USACE hosted delegates from five Vietnam ministries and eight provinces for a World Bank sponsored study tour focused on nature-based solutions. The delegates visited various Corps of Engineers’ offices and projects to learn about the use of nature-based, sustainable solutions in the management of water resources. The objective of the visit was to support Vietnam’s initiative to implement nature-based solutions in the Vietnam delta.

    SAVANNAH. Ga. -- U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Christopher A. Celiz was posthumously presented the Gold Order of the de Fleury Medal, the highest honor in the U.S. Army Engineer Regiment, during a ceremony today in Savannah, Georgia.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers delivered to Congress its Fiscal Year 2024 Work Plan for the Army Civil Works Program May 10, 2024. “The FY 2024 Work Plan for Army Civil Works continues this administration’s ongoing commitment to fund crucial infrastructure projects and build resilience in a changing climate. Its investments in our coastal ports and inland waterways will strengthen the economy and help maintain our farmers’ competitive advantage in the global marketplace. Resources are also dedicated to ensure the resumption of full operations at Baltimore Harbor, re-opening a critical port for the nation’s trade and commerce,” said Michael Connor, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works.
