  • Vicksburg District announces emergency timber sale at Bayou Bodcau

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District announces an emergency timber sale for agricultural lands located in Bossier and Webster parishes, Bayou Bodcau, Louisiana. These tracts of real estate property contain 340 acres in two sections of Webster Parish and 334 acres in eight sections of Bossier Parish. The Vicksburg District will receive sealed bids for Notices of Availability Nos. DACW38-9-20-47 by 2 p.m. and DACW38-9-20-48 by 2:30 p.m. Sept. 2.
  • Vicksburg District's DeGray Lake to host youth deer hunt with COVID-19 safety measures

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District’s DeGray Lake will host its fourth annual youth deer hunt Oct. 3 and 4, and COVID-19 precautions will be in place. The registration deadline is Sept. 5, and hunters must email Kolin Cogburn at kolin.p.cogburn@usace.army.mil for an application. For more information, contact Cogburn at 870-246-5501, extension 64015. To be eligible for participation, hunters must be between the ages of six and 15 and accompanied by an assistant at least 21 years of age. Youth hunters may harvest a maximum of one buck and two does during the hunt.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is hosting three public scoping meetings to garner input on how our reservoirs in western Minnesota and eastern South Dakota are managed for recreation and environmental stewardship.
  • Corps hosts cleanup event at Santa Ana River Marsh for third consecutive year

    For the third consecutive year, more than 20 volunteers traveled to the Santa Ana River Marsh Sept. 21 to participate in California’s Coastal Cleanup Day. The 92-acre marsh lies at the outlet of the Santa Ana River to the Pacific Ocean in Newport Beach and is owned and maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District.
  • District rangers partner with local community for National Public Lands Day clean-up event

    In honor of National Public Lands Day, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District’s park rangers partnered with Los Angeles County, the Whittier Narrows Nature Center Associates and local volunteers to clean up the San Gabriel riverbed Sept. 28 at the Whittier Narrows Nature Center.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 8, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently piloted a new class focusing on environmental stewardship at J. Percy Priest Lake that equipped 28 students with the basics for land and water management.
  • Corps hosts cleanup event at Santa Ana River Marsh

    With a navy pink- and- blue-flowered baseball cap pulled over her forehead, purple boots and a plastic grabbing tool in hand, 4-year-old Amelia Jones set off down the marsh’s dirt road. Her parents, Erin and Chris, both biologists, and her uncle, Andrew Hardison, were not far behind. As Amelia scoured the ground for trash, Erin, who works for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District, pointed to a plastic water bottle hidden in the brush. Amelia seemed pleased with her find, as she picked up the bottle with her grabber and dropped it into her lime-green bucket.
