    Mike Rohde, Chief of Real Estate for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Chicago, Detroit, and Buffalo Districts, sailed to victory last month, taking first place in his group during the prestigious Mackinac Race.
  • The Louisville District aids in military recruiting mission

    Recruiting is a key part of keeping the military mission-ready and for many, walking into a recruiting office is the first step of that journey. Behind the scenes, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District’s Real Estate Division works hard to make sure those offices are ready to welcome the next generation of service members. Through the Joint Recruiting Facilities Program, the Louisville District’s Real Estate Inleasing Branch manages the acquisition and maintenance of military recruitment offices across five states, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Illinois. Under a Department of Defense directive, the Secretary of the Army is designated as the executive agent for recruiting facilities, making USACE the key player in managing space for all branches of the military.
  • Corps of Engineers seeks office lease proposal interest in Nashville Area

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is inviting real estate professionals and property owners to submit potential office space solutions in the Nashville area. The District has released a beta solicitation to gauge market interest to lease at least 95,000 contiguous rentable square feet of fully serviced Class A or B office space. The proposed lease term is 20 years, with a one-year firm term, under the Corps’ leasing authority, Title 10 U.S. Code § 2661.
  • USACE completes walk through, final inspection of Lario Park

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completed a final walk-through inspection of Lario Park with representatives from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency March 19 in Azusa. Following the devastating wildfires in nearby Altadena, the EPA, working under a clean-up mission for FEMA, procured use of the park as a temporary staging area from late January to mid-March. EPA used the site to collect, sort and transport household hazardous materials from the Eaton Wildfire.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District signed a lease agreement on March 6 for the proposed construction of Foxland Harbor Marina at Old Hickory Lake in Gallatin, Tennessee.
  • Black belts and boundary lines: Real estate specialist lives a double life of discipline and defense

    Jeffrey Horneman works for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District as the deputy chief of the real estate office. Horneman has volunteered to provide free Taekwondo classes to youth through a martial arts nonprofit for the last 20 years. He has taught students as young as three years old. His classes have produced 12 black belts.

    Officials with the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Stillhouse Hollow Lake are saddened to announce the full closure and removal of the Stillhouse Hollow Marina. After more than 50 years of operation, a series of unfortunate events have led to the docks and facilities being damaged beyond repair.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting a willing seller meeting to discuss the potential purchase of low-lying property surrounding Beaver Lake which is either constantly or periodically inundated. The meeting will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 30, 2024, at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, J.B. and Johnelle Hunt Family Ozark Highlands Nature Center, 3400 N 40th Street, Springdale, Arkansas.
