    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District is providing initial planning and engineering support for the States of New Jersey and Delaware to address possible medical facility shortages due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The mission, in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the two states, is part of a nationwide federal, state and local effort to respond to the public health emergency.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 27, 2018) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Crisis Management Team held a water management tabletop exercise today to walk through a simulated high-water event within the Cumberland River Basin in Middle Tennessee.

  • Corps to reduce flows from Lake O; Hurricane Matthew damage assessment continues

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will reduce outflows from Lake Okeechobee this weekend as a result of receding water levels. Effective Friday (Oct. 14), the target flow for the Caloosahatchee Estuary is 4,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) as measured at Moore Haven Lock & Dam (S-77) located on the southwest side of the lake. The target flow for the St. Lucie Estuary is 1,800 cfs as measured at St. Lucie Lock & Dam (S-80) near Stuart. Additionally, the Corps continues to assist with post-Hurricane Matthew damage assessments around the state.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 17, 2013) – Local, state and federal partners kicked off Silver Jackets today at the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency Headquarters. Tennessee officially becomes the 40th state to join the program that provides a formal, consistent and unified approach to planning and implementing measures to reduce the risks associated with flooding and other natural hazards.

  • USACE responds to FEMA mission in aftermath of Oklahoma tornadoes

    OKLAHOMA CITY - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers employees were among the first on the scene following the May 2013 tornado outbreak in Oklahoma. Members of the USACE Emergency Support Function III deployed to the scene hours after destructive tornadoes ripped through several areas in the state, with the most extensive damage in the cities of Shawnee, Moore and El Reno.
