    LANCASTER, Tenn. (May 3, 2012) – U.S. Rep. Diane Black visited Center Hill Dam today to see firsthand the ongoing foundation remediation project and to receive updates from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District personnel overseeing the work.

  • NR 12-008: Nashville District relaxes Lake Cumberland water release guidelines

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 3, 2012) – The Nashville District has been approved to relax the guidelines for releasing water from Lake Cumberland. The Interim Risk Reduction Measure currently in place requires the district to hold the lake level as close to elevation 680 feet as rainfall and ability to release water allows. However, the lake-level range for managing releases for the “most efficient use of water” is being relaxed from the previous elevation range of 680-to-683 feet to new elevation range of 680-to-685 feet.

  • NR 12-009: Corps responds to Gaylord Entertainment lawsuit

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 30, 2012) – Although reported in the media, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District has not received official notice of a lawsuit to be filed by Gaylord Entertainment and the A.O. Smith Corporation. If and when the lawsuit is filed, the Corps will be represented by the Department of Justice and any further comment will come from DOJ.

  • Emergency responders shake out earthquake preparedness, recovery plans

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 27, 2012) – If a major earthquake occurred along the New Madrid Seismic Zone, it would likely result in widespread damage in several states, particularly Tennessee. At an emergency management planning meeting at Tennessee Emergency Management Agency Headquarters, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District led discussions during a New Madrid Planning Workshop to prepare for such a catastrophe.
