    OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (May 20, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announced today that it is offering the public unescorted access to Old Hickory Navigation Lock beginning May 23, 2014. The lock will be accessible to visitors seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Sept. 2, 2014.

(May 8, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Old Hickory Lake is now accepting registration applications for the Saturday, May 17, lock and dam tour beginning at 11 a.m. at the Old Hickory Lock parking area. Free to the public and approximately 75 minutes in length, the guided tour will give registered participants an opportunity to not only view the facilities, but also learn about the lake’s history and important role the navigational lock and powerhouse facilities play with the cities and towns along the Cumberland River.

(March 7, 2014) – More than 20 ninth graders from Stratford STEM Magnet High School received educational lessons about water management on the Cumberland River and its tributaries, ecosystems for big rivers and small streams, hydropower operations, navigation and water safety on a field trip Feb. 27 at Old Hickory Dam.

    OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (July 22, 2013) – There are two more chances this recreation season for the public to tour Old Hickory Lock and Dam. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District invites people of all ages to come out to the lake to tour the structures during the final two open house tours scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 10 and 31 beginning at 11 a.m. Guided tours of the structure are free to the public and approximately 60 minutes in length.

Free to the public and approximately 60 minutes in length, the guided tours will allow guests to have an up close view of Old Hickory Lake’s Navigation Lock and Powerhouse facilities.

(May 15, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Old Hickory Lake is offering free guided public tours of the Old Hickory Lake’s Navigation Lock and Powerhouse 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday May 25, June 29, July 20, Aug. 10 and Aug. 25. The tours are approximately one hour in length.
