    KUTTAWA, Ky. (June 2, 2011) – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers District Commander, Lt. Col. Anthony Mitchell welcomed the (acting) U.S. Army Chief of Engineers and Commanding General, Maj. Gen Merdith W. B. (Bo) Temple to Kentucky for a tour of the Lock, the Lake Barkley Dam and Power plant, the town of Smithland and various flood protection barriers, structures and pumping stations along the levees in Paducah, Ky. Temple also took the opportunity to observe firsthand the progress that the Nashville District is making on several major projects at the Kentucky Lock.

Grisoli and Director of Contingency Operations and Homeland Security, Karen Durham-Aguilera, toured the Lake Barkley Dam and Power plant, the Kentucky Lock, the town of Smithland and Paducah, Ky., flood protection barriers, structures and pumping stations along the levees.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 4, 2011) -- Ashlee Smith, 17, a junior at Lyon County High School, Ky., and daughter of Troy Smith an Electrician with the U.S. Army of Engineers from the Lake Barkley Power Plant, won $5,000 and captured top honors representing the Mid-South region at the Bill of Rights Institute's Being an American Essay Contest Awards Gala Celebration on March 22, 2011 in Washington, D.C.
