Pottery Mound cultural preservation study kicks off with sponsor meeting
Recently the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Albuquerque District and the Pueblo of Isleta met for a kickoff meeting to begin a cultural preservation study of the pueblo’s historic Pottery Mound site. The Pottery Mound study is the first Tribal Partnership Program cultural resource preservation project within the Albuquerque District under recently updated guidelines.

USACE-Albuquerque District receives Army Safety and Occupational Health Star recognition
The Albuquerque District received the Army Safety and Occupational Health Star flag in a ceremony at the district’s headquarters, April 1, 2025. The district is the first district in USACE’s South Pacific Division to achieve this recognition.

The Albuquerque District signed a project partnership agreement with the Village of Cuba N.M., March 24, 2025. The project intends to ensure adequate water distribution and storage for the village.

Volunteers spot 80 eagles at five USACE lakes during eagle watch surveys in January
More than 110 volunteers joined Albuquerque District staff at five of their lakes – Abiquiu, Cochiti, and Santa Rosa lakes in New Mexico, and Trinidad Lake and John Martin Reservoir in Colorado – for midwinter eagle surveys in January 2025.

District’s leadership development class develops outreach tool in English and Navajo
Each year students in the district’s Leadership Development Program work on a project that both benefits the district and allows the LDP student team to incorporate and apply the new leadership skills they have learned in the program. In 2024, the students developed engaging and accessible audio content highlighting the missions of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Albuquerque District.
